How-To: Mini Festival Buns

Get your buns ready—it’s officially festival season! Our favorite trend this year? Mini space buns with loose, Beachywaves™. Get creative, and add some craft store cording and charms, and you’re ready for Bonnaroo, Lolla and everything in between! Here’s our guide for how to get your new, go-to summer style.

1. Create two small ponytails near the front of the crown area, and secure with clear elastics.

2. Using a Half Up, roll each ponytail into a bun, wrapping the hair around the Half Up to conceal.

3. Wrap colored suede cording (you can find it at a craft store, like Michael’s) over the top of each bun, and incorporate the cord into a basic three-strand braid underneath each bun.

4. Braid about two-thirds of the way down, then use the cord to secure the braid.

5. Attach charms (you can find these unicorn and bear pegasus charms at a craft store) to the bottom of each bun.

6. Add some waves using the Beachwaver S1, then gently comb through the waves with your fingers.

 7. Take your new buns for a spin, dancing queen! 💃

How-To: Sweetheart Bun

Choosing the perfect Valentine’s Day style is no easy task! You want it to be cute AND practical (and it wouldn’t hurt if it looked good enough to ‘gram!). We have just the thing. This festive, heart-shaped bun is sure to turn heads, and with our Wrap Up, you can recreate this look in just five minutes! Check out the step-by-step below to learn how.

1. Start by gathering hair into a ponytail and securing with an elastic. Open a Wrap Up, and mold it into a V shape.

2. Pull the pony through the Wrap Up, pinch it closed and slide it to the ends of your hair. Then roll the hair up until you reach the top of the pony.

3. Using one hand to hold the Wrap Up in place, shape the bottom of the Wrap Up into a point (the bottom of the heart) with your other hand.

4. Secure the Wrap Up to your head with long bobby pins—one on the bottom and two on each side.

5. Next, fold the sides of the Wrap Up inward to create the top of the heart. Slide the hair up over the side of the Wrap Up to conceal.

6. Use one hand to hold the heart shape in place while you pin the Wrap Up to secure.

7. Use a duck bill clip to help maintain the shape as you mist with hairspray for hold, and to smooth flyaways.

Voilà! The perfect, Insta-worthy Valentine's Day style!

Hair Party with the ladies from Z-100

Before hitting the red carpet at Z-100's Jingle Ball in Philly, Carla Marie and Danielle Monaro stopped by our office! It was a fun afternoon of hair, lunch, and laughs! We tried out a couple fun and different hairstyles before giving them their final look. A crown braid for Danielle and a rocker faux hawk on Carla Marie, they both rocked it!

As the hair party wrapped up, I styled Danielle with some beachwaves and a fishtail, on Carla Marie I went for the glam waves. It was a blast having both of these wonderful ladies over the office and I am looking forward to their next visit!
